SMB files on TV

The most common reason people sideload a file manager onto an Android TV box is to reach a shared folder. A build with SMB support turns the TV into a client for whatever is already on your network: a NAS, a router USB drive, or a PC share.

Pair it with a player rather than using the built-in preview, because the bundled player often lacks the codecs a large MKV needs. Handing the file to VLC or Kodi by long-pressing is the reliable path.

Credentials are stored per share. If a share stops opening after a router reboot, re-enter the password rather than reinstalling: SMB sessions expire silently.

Cara memasang

1. On the TV, allow installs from your file manager under Settings, Apps, Security.
2. Download the file manager APK on a phone and send it with Send Files to TV.
3. Open the APK on the TV and confirm the install.
4. Add your share by IP address and sign in once.
