VLC Nightly — Android TV

The nightly build of VLC ships codec updates weeks before the Play Store version. Useful when a new release of a show uses a container the stable build still rejects.

It installs alongside the stable app only if you use a different package; otherwise it upgrades in place and can be rolled back by reinstalling the store version.

How to install

Download the Android TV nightly APK from the VLC nightly builds page
Sideload it over the existing VLC install
Check Playback → Hardware decoding if 4K stutters
