SmartTube is an open-source YouTube client built specifically for the 10-foot screen. It removes ads, adds sponsor-block skipping, and keeps working on devices where the official app has become slow.
It is not on Google Play and must be sideloaded. Because it is not signed by Google, it cannot use your Google account in the same way, so sign-in goes through a device-code flow instead.

- Enable Unknown Sources for your sideload tool in Settings → Apps → Security.
- Download the latest SmartTube APK on a computer or phone.
- Send it to the TV with a sideload app such as Downloader, or use adb install.
- Complete sign-in with the on-screen device code.

Is sideloading SmartTube safe?
SmartTube is open source and widely used, but any sideloaded app bypasses Play Protect review. Download only from the project's official GitHub releases and verify the file came from that repository.
