Why your Android TV got slow — and how to fix it

Makale İngilizce

A TV that was snappy in year one and crawls in year three has almost always accumulated background services and filled its storage. Android needs roughly 15% free space before it starts thrashing.

Measure before you delete things: check free storage, then look at which apps run at boot. Most slow TVs have three or four apps that were opened once and never closed.

Nasıl kurulur

  1. Check free storage in Settings → Device preferences → Storage. Below 15% is the most common cause.
  2. Uninstall apps you have not opened in six months, starting with the largest.
  3. Clear the cache of streaming apps individually; clearing all app data will log you out everywhere.
  4. Disable auto-start for apps you rarely use. On most Android TV builds this is under Apps → See all → App → Notifications and permissions.
  5. Replace a heavy stock launcher with a lightweight one — the home screen is redrawn constantly.
  6. Reboot weekly. Android TV has no scheduled maintenance and long uptimes leak memory.
  7. As a last resort, factory reset. Back up your app list first; sideloaded apps are not restored.

Sık sorulanlar

Will a factory reset make it fast again?

Yes, temporarily. If the TV is under 2 GB of RAM it will slow down again within a year regardless — hardware, not software, is the limit.

Does a custom launcher really help?

Often, yes. Stock launchers on low-end TVs render recommendation carousels that pull network data on every redraw. A minimal launcher removes that work entirely.
